What happened to the pictures? Exhibit A, Exhibit B
Will they ever come back? Yes and no

The looming Palestinian civil war

Only a complete idiot would blame Israel for this.
It would appear that Hamas and Fatah are currently fighting over who will hold all of the reins in the Palestinian Territories. Much like competing mafia groups, neither is anything remotely "democratic," so whomever ends up in control of the PLC is most likely slated to be replaced by the next mob.

This is just more proof of the obvious—Israel has nothing to do with the "destitution" of the Palestinian people. Their situation is one entirely of their own making, and will quickly be improved, once they stop supporting the crooks who do stuff like you see in this photograph.

Don't expect this little newsflash to be picked up by the myopic press any time soon, though. For the first time ever, I'm sure they're actually stretching to come up with a reason to blame Israel for this mess.

Stay tuned - I'll be collecting all of the photographs here as the day progresses.

Wire Coverage: Associated Press, Reuters, NYT/IHT, USA Today

My absolute favorite article on this story is from marxist.com. Wait until you find out who THEY think the villain is! (More importantly, how is "marxist.com" considered a credible source to put on Yahoo! News? If they make the cut, shouldn't Snapped Shot?)

Update 13:48 EST: Disturbingly Yellow has a rather humorous take on these events.

Hiding behind civilians

It would appear that Jeff Swanson of Open Fire has found some examples of Hezbullah militants launching rockets from inside of residential buildings. Nothing explains the destruction seen throughout southern Lebanon more than the referenced video.

UPDATE 16:30 EST: It appears that Victor Davis Hanson has mentioned that Qana was a "favored missile-launching site against Israel" prior to it being bombed by the IDF. In light of this, all of the posturing of the dead afterwards does seem rather cynical, does it not?

Remarkable...

Little Green Footballs is hot on the case again. Check out this Lebanese refugee shelter:

Looks normal, right? Well, other than the fact that there're far more people crowded in there than we'd expect to see in a bomb shelter? Well, it appears that something out of the ordinary is going on after all, for behold:—

Tyler, would you care to explain yourself? Are you trying to hide somebody's identity here? This looks fairly obvious to me, though I suppose there's still an off chance that the gentleman in the second picture is wearing some kind of headwear around his neck...

Once again, our hats are off to the good folks down at LGF for an outstanding job!

Does this mean we're winning?

It appears that someone at the Editorial desk at Reuters is getting a bit jumpy. They've posted an updated copy of one of their photos to "clarify" that people in the background are not in the line of fire. Of course, we know the Palestinians would never put civilians in the line of fire, though it's pretty clear that this guy is shooting at Israeli forces, from within a group of civilians. Anyone want to bet what the international reaction would've been, had the IDF fired back and hit any of the civilians shielding this low-life?

RETRANSMITTING ORIGINAL FULL FRAME FOR CONTEXT TO SHOW THAT PEOPLE IN BACKGROUND ARE NOT DIRECTLY IN THE LINE OF FIRE -- A Palestinian militant fires toward Israeli troops during an arrest raid in the West Bank village of Qabatiyeh near Jenin, Tuesday, Aug. 8, 2006. Four Palestinians were wounded when the army arrested an Al-Aqsa Martyrs' Brigades militant, Palestinians sources said. The army said two Islamic Jihad militants were arrested during the operation. Update 20:22 EST: Looks like LGF has finally caught up to this story. We beat you by 3 hours, good sirs. Does that make this our first scoop? :-)
