SIXTH Bombing in Lebanon!

It would seem that the Christian area of Zouk Mousbeh was hit! I'll be updating with pictures shortly!

Lebanese firefighter try to extinguish burning stores after a bomb exploded in the town of Zouk Mousbeh, about 20 kilometers (12 miles) north of Beirut, Lebanon, Thursday June 7, 2007. the blast occurred in an industrial area in the town of Zouk Mousbeh, about 20 kilometers (12 miles) from Beirut and near the Christian town of Jounieh. The explosion set off large fires in several buildings and black smoke was seen billowing from the area. (AP Photo)

This looks to be the largest explosion yet. There isn't any word (on the photo wires) about casualties yet, but they are apparently looking for victims.

What kind of bumper sticker does John Edwards think this makes? Continue reading »

FOURTH bombing in Lebanon!

Abu Kais is reporting that another bomb has exploded in Beirut, this time onboard a bus outside of an abandoned building. No word on the damage or casualties yet - I'll be following up when I learn more.

Update: According to LBC, 7 were injured, none are reported dead. Still waiting on details.

Update: Sometimes, you have to hit faraway sources to get the news. I still haven't seen word one about this bombing on CNN, nor on the front pages of Google or Yahoo news.

But in the evening a bomb ripped through a public bus in Christian east Beirut wounding at least seven of the people on board, a security source said.

The explosion in the mixed residential and industrial district of Sed al-Baushrieh was the fourth to rock Lebanon since the clashes between the army and the Islamists broke out on May 20.

Footage broadcast by Lebanese television showed that the bus had been burned out by the force of the explosion.

Several parked cars and the facade of a nearby shopping centre were also badly damaged.

AFP's on the story, at least. Still waiting for the photo wires to catch up.

Update: Photos are starting to come in. I'll be posting them shortly.

One man's "protest"

Adnan Hajj would be proud!!
... is still a riot, judging by these pictures!

It looks like it's a busy morning in Lebanon right now. Very interesting, in fact. Hezbullah is beginning their "expansion" of their "open-ended protest," to couch the debate in the terms used by a wholly sympathetic press. Of course, true to their form, their "protest" seems to have entered the traditional "violence phase," but let's not let silly little things like that define them for who they are.

(To the press, "rioting Muslims" is not immediately synonymous with "violence" for some strange reason. That type of terminology only applies to certain politically-unfavoured groups, it seems.)

There's no doubt in my mind that this is a calculated riot intended to re-capture the Western press's attention, and it is orchestrated by a group of people whose singular goal is the total Islamification of Lebanon. Of course, much like our anti-war Western counterparts, there are a handful of useful idiots mixed in the bunch to give a veneer of validity, who will be sorely disappointed when Nasrallah turns the tables on them.

Most of the photos that have come across the wires so far are indistinguishable from your average Palestinian violence, so for the moment, I'll refrain from posting all of them. You'll find the most interesting ones from the bunch beyond the break, though!
