Christopher Anderson: Photographer of the Year

Chris Anderson (photo by Marion Durand)
Christopher Anderson, who you may recall has interacted with us here at Snapped Shot, has been identified as the Magazine Photographer of the Year by Pictures of the Year, International (via Lightstalkers), for one of his dramatic photographs from the Middle East. In addition to the prize-winning photograph, there were other pictures from the Gaza Strip, Beirut, and South America. The slideshow can be viewed over here.

My heartiest congratulations, Mr. Anderson. We may not always agree on the interpretation of the events you depict, but there is no denying that the photographs you have been awarded for are very powerful.

(I have decided to officially retract the majority of this story, as it was very far below the level-of-effort I prefer to put into this type of thing. If you'd like to see the original story, and brief commentary as to why it was retracted, please see it in the Retraction Column.)
