Hypocrisy in fruitful action

I despise hypocrisy. It is a lie to me. It is full-frontal betrayal. It sickens my stomach more so than people swooning over Obama like a rock\movie star.

Today comes news that the House and the Senate both voted on bills that told the President to stop buying oil to fill up the National Strategic Oil Reserves.

Their case? That oil needs to be in the market in order to reduce the price load upon consumers. The more oil on the market there is will cause the price of gas to go down for consumers.

"Instead of hiding barrels of oil in the nearly full Strategic Petroleum Reserve, we want to put them on the market to increase supply and lower prices," said Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid.

All of a sudden the most liberal whiners in Legislature are big believers in capitalism? They want to increase the flow of oil in America??!? Well HALLELUJAH!!!

Uhhh.. wait one minute there. Read on for the joy of hypocrisy in action... Continue reading »

The Nastiest Thing I Have Ever Heard

From the Scientific American comes this Reuters video

“Art critics are scratching their heads, as an exhibition introducing Germans infected with lice opens in central Israel.”

It gave me the heebee-geebees!! Why?? Germans wearing and growing lice for a museum art exhibit in Israel??? Are these people nuts or just stupid? Well, listening to one of the participants leads me to believe they are San Fran hippies transplanted to Germany. They are just ..... (shiver)

What next? A hands-on Leprosy exhibit?

Global Warming is FOR REAL

It seems that global warming and its effects are real. You doubt me? Just take a look at this sad deadly story from WCBSTV. 36 people shot and 2 have been stabbed because the globe is getting warmer and warmer.

Chicago police say 36 people were shot and two people were stabbed over the weekend; nine of those victims died. Authorities said that, although that is a large number of violent crimes for such a short time span, it is not unusual as the weather gets warmer.
...
Chicago police say that warmer weather means more opportunities for violent crime,...
...
Ald. Isaac Carothers (29th) represents the Austin neighborhood. Like the police, he believes one reason for the rash of violence this weekend is warmer weather. And because he fears a long and violent hot summer, he wants more police in his neighborhood and other hot spots.

hmmm, so, are these violent outbreaks the result of warming or from the fear of global warming? So, wonder what this means for when ACTUAL summer temps start to come in? I mean, this is just the start of spring, right? Temps this year and last year have actually been cooler than predicted. What, temperatures may have hit a high of 80F degrees at most by this time of year? I wonder how this compares to Phoenix and their murder rates? Is Fairbanks, AK is nothing but a hug-fest?

But, do you think the police are any way concerned with shooting of 36 people and the death of 9?
Police admit that three dozen shootings in one weekend is a lot, but through the end of March in Chicago, violent crime was down.

Good to know for the coming tourist season.

Nancy Pelosi's All-Purpose Bible™

Next time you can't find a quote to fit your agenda from the Bible, why not try taking Nancy Pelosi's approach, and just invent it out of whole cloth?

(CNSNews.com) - House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) is fond of quoting a particular passage of Scripture. The quote, however, does not appear in the Bible and is "fictional," according to biblical scholars.

In her April 22 Earth Day news release, Pelosi said, "The Bible tells us in the Old Testament, 'To minister to the needs of God's creation is an act of worship. To ignore those needs is to dishonor the God who made us.' On this Earth Day, and every day, let us pledge to our children, and our children's children, that they will have clean air to breathe, clean water to drink, and the opportunity to experience the wonders of nature."

...

Distinguished biblical scholars, however, cast doubt on the existence of the passage.

John J. Collins, the Holmes professor of Old Testament criticism and interpretation at Yale Divinity School, said he is totally unfamiliar with Pelosi's quotation.

"(It's) not one that I recognize," Collins told Cybercast News Service. "I assume that she means this is a paraphrase. But it wouldn't be a close paraphrase to anything I know of."

Claude Mariottini, a professor of Old Testament at Northern Baptist Theological Seminary, told Cybercast News Service the passage not only doesn't exist - it's "fictional."

Yet more proof that environmentalism is nothing more than the latest sham religion? You bet your sweet bippy it is!

Now put your hand to the TV screen, close your eyes, and send Al your mo-ney.

And the world goes dark

Today was "Earth Hour" today (figure that one out). This was the day that for one hour, everyone was to turn out their lights to protect the world from GLOBAL WARMING.

The environmental group WWF urged governments, businesses and households to turn back to candle power for at least 60 minutes Saturday starting at 8 p.m. wherever they were. Several U.S. cities including Chicago and Atlanta participated and symbolic darkouts or dimmings of monuments.

So, this world-wide man-made global-saving event was participated by only a few cities in America. Nice. But, did those city's efforts make any difference you ask? Let us see. Continue reading »

The Religion of Soylent Green

I rarely post two environmental-idiot articles in one day, but this one is especially deserving of scorn:

Heat created by burning the dead at crematoria could be used to keep mourners warm under plans to make funerals more environmentally-friendly.

Instead of letting the gases emitted by cremation escape into the atmosphere, councils want to use them to heat radiators or even generate electricity.

They admit some might find the idea of being kept warm by the remains of their loved-ones macabre.

But there are thought to be no religious objections, and ever-tighter controls on pollution mean such systems could become commonplace.

Spoiler Alert: It's people!

Seriously, the environmentalist movement is looking more and more like a cult with each passing day. The sooner it's condemned to the droll pits of fad-dom, the better.

Eco-Narcissism

I'm not generally a big fan of lobby groups, but I think I may make an exception for this one. I'm prone to notice the flicker of fluorescent lights both at home and in the office, and if it's quiet enough, they generate a buzz that is definitely an irritant.

With all of that in mind, this next little tidbit makes a whole lot of sense (h/t Donkeyrock):

According to a British migraine lobby group, energy efficient light bulbs could be causing migraines.

A spokeswoman for the group said that the bulbs have been triggering migraines either because of their flickering, or the low intensity of their light.

Jurisdictions around the world have been moving toward banning standard incandescent bulbs. British stores will stop selling all conventional bulbs by the end of 2011.
