Compare And Contrast

Earlier this year, there were worldwide (and totally orchestrated) protests against Israel's "destruction" of the al-Aqsa Mosque, the third holiest site in Islam—which does not appear once in the Qu'ran—even though Israeli excavations were being performed to preserve archaeological evidence before official Palestinian construction destroyed it. The press, in its endless exuberance for anything anti-Western, presented these protests as fact, not once attempting to understand the Israeli side of the issue.

Palestinian children hold placards during a demonstration against the Israeli government's construction works outside the Al-Aqsa Mosque compound of Jerusalem in the Ein el-Hilweh refugee camp, southern Lebanon Friday, Feb. 9, 2007. Palestinian leaders have harshly condemned the work but Israel says the project is needed to replace a centuries-old earthen ramp that partially collapsed in a snowstorm three years ago. It has promised the work would cause no harm to the Islamic holy site; but those assurances have not calmed Muslim passions over the project. (AP Photo/Mohammed Zaatari)

Fast-forward to yesterday, where Israeli citizens were protesting their own government's plan to give the Temple Mount—which incidentally is the single-most holiest site in Judaism, mentioned in the Torah and Talmud hundreds of times—are tarred and smeared as "right-wing" extremists.

Right-wing Israelis demonstrate against any Israeli territorial concession outside Jerusalem's Saban Forum where US Secretary of State Condoleeza Rice and Israeli Prime Minister Ehud Olmert held talks 04 November 2007. On her eighth visit to Israel and the Palestinian territories this year, pressing diplomatic efforts to revive full-blown peace talks after seven years of deadlock, Rice was in the occupied West Bank for top-level talks.(AFP/Menahem Kahana)

There's that good old-fashioned fairness and balance for you: "Curse those dastardly right-wingers."

Full coverage of yesterday's Radical Right Wing Israeli Protest can be found beyond the fold.

Update: Wow, here are some genuine words of "wisdom" from Ehud "The Dunce" Olmert:

Israeli PM Olmert slams right-wing extremists over 'flood of hatred'

Israeli Prime Minister Ehud Olmert launched a vitriolic attack on extreme right-wingers on Monday, amid a campaign to release a political assassin and incitement against talks with the Palestinians.

Olmert, who on Sunday said he may be able to conclude a peace deal with the Palestinians by the end of next year, vowed that such behaviour would not dissuade him from persevering with negotiations.

"We are prepared to make compromises because security is based on peace and peace requires painful compromises," he said in a speech to a managers' conference in Israel's commercial capital Tel Aviv.

Okay, here's a "flood of hatred" for you, Eddy Boy:—if you're so set against the Jewish people that you do not wish to hear what the Jewish people have to say about the future of Israel—the ancestral home of said Jewish people—then why in the devil do you allow yourself to remain as President? If genuine Judaism disgusts you so much, why not just pack up and move over to your best buddy's little tinpot regime?

After all, if your "counterparts" at the peace conference deny your right to exist, as the savages have done on every occasion they've been given, why do you suppose that "peace" somehow depends on giving them more land, you traitorous coward?!

Is Israel really so self-destructive now that they allow scum like this to remain in power?

Soccer Dad writes to remind me that Olmert used to be one of we dreaded "right-wingers", back before political expediency necessitated the abandonment of his core beliefs. How times change!

I dream of the day in which spinelessness will no longer be a requirement for public office in the West.

Update: The Elder has more thoughts on extremism.

Pakistan's Curious Little Jihadi Problem

Remember that picture from a few days ago of Pakistani terror-supporters giving alms for jihad? In the same city, a "hardliner" Islamic cleric and his band of AK-lugging thugs have taken a group of Pakistani security forces hostage. In response, the Pakistani government has been increasing the number of troops it sends into the area, in an attempt to gain control over some of the lawlessness they're currently experiencing. As if on cue, students from every madrassa in the area have been bussed in to protest against this outrageous show of lawfulness. So what does our ever-helpful press do?

Yeah, you guessed it. Bring on the ouuuuutrage:

Islamic students protest against the government's continued fighting in the northwestern province with Islamic militants in Islamabad, Pakistan, Friday, Nov. 2, 2007. Government officials say militants account for most of 180 people killed in fighting around the northwestern province of Swat since 2,500 government militiamen were deployed last week to tackle the followers of pro-Taliban cleric Maulana Fazlullah. 4 People = MANDATE!

It's curious to see that our wire services consider a protest that attracted only four people to be an event that is newsworthy enough to transmit. It's even more curious to see that the excessively liberal bastion that is Los Angelos could only muster 4 useful idiots unquestionable patriots to protest the continuing American imperialistic hegemony. (Or whatever else they're calling it these days.)

Protesters Gary Herbertson and Gloria Lambden, two of four protesters total, bang pots and pans as they demonstrate against the war in Iraq in what they call The Raise Hell for Molly Ivins Campaign at the Federal Building in West Los Angeles Friday, Oct. 19, 2007. The campaign was inspired by the words of liberal syndicated columnist Molly Ivins, who said in her last column before her January, 2007 death, 'We are the people who run this country. We are the deciders. Every single one of us needs to step outside and take some action to help stop this war. Raise Hell....' (AP Photo/Reed Saxon)

Patriotism is dissent, huh? Molly must be proud, indeed.

Happy Al-Quds West-Hating Fun Day

Is this the next Jihadi Idol?
It's that time of year again, and the celebrations have begun! If you're not familiar with it, "Al Quds Day" is a day set aside by the Ayatollah Khameni and the Islamic Revolutionary government in Iran as a day for Muslims to march against "Western" "oppression". Never they mind the oppression brought upon them by their leaders, of course. The stability of their dictatorships depends on them directing their peons' anger externally, does it not?

Notice that Al Quds Day falls on the last Friday of Ramadan, a day in which all Muslims are encouraged to go to their mosques for prayer. It is in these mosques that the "Islamic public" is so easily whipped into a rage by their radical imams. So, in effect, this is the largest canned protest of the year.

Be sure to check back here all day, I'll be doing my best to keep up with the fun and games!

And here are last year's celebrations, so you know what to expect.

Update: This year's theme, parroted by every single group of brainwashed demonstrators, is "DOWN WITH ISRAEL."

If only International A.N.S.W.E.R. had as loyal a following as Tehran does, huh?

;-)

Save That Date!

Word has it (from Iranian blogger Kamangir) that Iran is already ramping up for this Friday's Al-Quds Day celebrations orchestrated raging. If you're not familiar with it, let me just say this: It is usually priceless.

The "holiday" was created by the Ayatollah Khohemeni back in the '80s, and is designated literally as a day on which Muslims should pour out their rage at the West, specifically America and Israel. If you ever hear anyone tell you that it's a "day of celebration" of Jerusalem, like I used to think, smack them around with a dead trout or two.

Anyway, I'll be bringing you coverage from the wires as soon as it starts, so be sure to check in tomorrow! If you want to see what this America-hating mess is going to look like, here's a little sneak preview:

"My husband lets me out of house one day a year, so I'm going to make this a good one!"

Pakistani Firestorm

Interesting things are afoot over in Islamabad today—Apparently, former Pakistani Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif, who was exiled from the country for 7 years, attempted to return there last night, and work to overthrow the military dictatorship of Pervez Musharraf. Upon his arrival at Islamabad's airport, he was immediately detained by Pakistani police, and deported within hours to Saudi Arabia.

Sharif was arrested and deported to Saudi Arabia on Monday within hours of arriving home from exile, vowing to end the rule of President Pervez Musharraf. His supporters are reportedly still rampaging in the streets. I'll be tracking these photos as they come across the wires, so be sure to check back later for updates!

"Sir" Salman Rushdie: Day of RAGE Edition

Today's the day we've all been waiting for! I'll be documenting the worldwide rage from the Ummah here as photos come in, so be sure to check back every now and then!

VICTORY! It seems that Islamic Rage Boy is joining the anti-Rushdie festivities after all!

REUTERS/Fayaz Kabli (INDIAN-ADMINISTERED KASHMIR)

Remember folks, these photos will be coming in all day long. I'll be doing my best to keep up with the flow, but be sure to keep checking back here and reloading every now and then for fresh fun and excitement!

This one is my pick for the day, so far! Hahahah!

In case you get bored, be sure to check out the growing collection of Serial Outrager Parodies, featuring our little friend above!

Status: As of 14:30 EDT, the hottest fires are burning in Pakistan and Kashmir and now, Londonistan. We've also seen a few pictures from Iran, and a brief mention of Indonesia as well, but no big protests so far.

Update: I think this comment, which was just posted to the Day Two thread, is the best:

BOO HOO HOO! MY WITTWE FEEWINGS ARE HURT!
the most tragic and really grave incident of this century... is attacks on a religion, directly or indirectly..the focus is just islaam..n the people who highlight and say about this fact are termed as fanatic..
the action starts from 9|11 attacks ,only blames with no evidences..it was definately a bad incident... but actions n just actions on islam..we can only protest and even if we try that..who doesnt want to sacrifice hislife for his religion and, what is the use of those eyes which cannot stop other devil's eye on his religion..that hand which cannot stop otheR attacking HAND....
to raise a voice for just is right on all religion..killing other person for self defence is not a crime in any relifion so how can defending one's religion is crime anywhere...
we are called as fanatist,terrOrorist...
we are attacked various times verbally or by different means.. we respect all religions...
still the topic is unrevealed to you...i m surprised..
the innumerable attacks... including the latest one.GREAT BRITIAN AWARDS SALNAN RUSHDI TILE OF SIR... AMAZING..FROM GREAT BRITAIN..
THE SAME PERSON WHICH HAS TO BE GIVEN PENALTY OR HANGED IS BEING AWARDED...yeah..forgiveness...only comes to muslims..our religion teaches love ANYONE for ALLAH AND HIS prophet, hatred for ALLAH AND HIS LAST BELOVED Prophet..
I HAVE NOT KNOWN AND HAVENT SEEN HIM BUT GOD IS EVIDENT I DONT EVEN WANT TO SEE HIM...I PRAY TO GOD I MAY NEVER SEE HIM.. AT MY PIOSITION ANY ONE WOULD SAY THIS..
WE MUSLIMS COULD HAVE ASKED FOR HIS PENALtY and killing for the devil's companion..but look at us we are just saying not to award him the title "sir'...can't we be granted as that ..y we are being treated like that..give me any example when a muslim Ruler has done this to any other reiligion AWRDING A PERSON WHO HAS ATTACKED OTHER RELIGION ???? still we are fanatist..
in the consequences..sir title would be seen as the most devilish title and people who have got this and will be given..if they would have love for their religion..which is obvious..would never accept it.. people respect other religions..
it is not the world matter... religion is not a personal matter now its for all....IF THIS IS WAY OF GETTING THE TITLE OF "SIR"USE BAD LANGUAGE FOR OHTER PROPHET AND GET A TITLE IS THE RULE????
we muslims are most respectful to other religions...but we dont have tolerance for wrongdoings. religion..
musilm's eyes brought in tears for years...
not an opology would work for it,a promise from all to all people never blame other religion, never use BAD WORDS FOR OTHER PROPHET,..and people who do this would be given penalTy,SEVERE PUNISHMENT just one law to practice,n peace, love for ALL....IT BRINGS TEARS OF BLOOD.....

WHAT SHOULD WE CALL THIS INCIDENT"REWARDING A DEVIL TITLE OF SIR" .THEN IT IS A TIME TO WAKEUP..N SEE HOW GREAT BRITAIN REWARD PEOPLE WHO ARE FANATIST AND TERRORIST..IS IT MY PERSONAL OPINION??? SEE,LOOK WITHOUT BEING BIASED..
I CANNOT EVEN SAY WHAT IF SOMEONES DOES TO UR RELIGION
N HE IS BEING WARDED LIKE THAT...??TO ME ITS EVEN VERY HURTING..BUT ONCE THE FINGER IS AT UR POSITION..U MIGHT HAVE WRUITTEN MORE THAT THAT... BUT MY IDEA IS NOT TO MAKE ANY ONE FURIOUS,MY BELIEVE IS THAT THE WORDS I HAVE WRITTEN MAYBE MY WAY OF CLOSER TO ALLAH'S PROPHET,HIS LOVE..AS IT IS WRITTEN THERE
WHEN HAZRAT ABRAHIM{A.s}WAS BROUGHT TO FIRE ,TO EXTINGUISH THE FIRE THERE WAS A BIRD WHO HAD A WATER IN HIS BEAK TO EXTINGUISH FIRE,HE SAID I MIGHT NOT ABLE TO EXTINGUISH THE FIRE,BUT WHEN ON THE DAY OF JUDGEMENT GOD WOULD ASK FOR MY WORK? WHERE WAS I? I CAN ANSWER I HAVE MY CONTRIBUTION TOO...
SEE THIS IS A SMALL DROP..BUT REALLY THE DROPS MAKE SEA..ONE DROP BY ALL OF US WOULD STOP SUCH EVILS FOREVER....

Lay off the caffeine, good sir. It'd do your heart some good.

"Sir" Salman Rushdie: Day Three

Here're the latest photos from the wave of love and joy for Salman Rushdie. I'm still expecting Friday to be the most dramatic set so far, but we're still seeing plenty of good old-fashioned entertainment until then.

Rt: "BRITISH GOVERNMENT TAKE APOLOGY FROM THE ALL MUSLIM[s] OF THE WORLD."

I'm sure the British Embassy would be more than delighted to hear your apologies, good sirs.

"Sir" Salman Rushdie: Day Two

The saga continues...

Pakistan's protesters chant slogans to condemn the British government for awarding a knighthood to Salman Rushdie in Karachi, Pakistan, Tuesday, June 19, 2007. (AP Photo/Shakil Adil)

"HAND OVER RUSHDEI TO PAKISTAN FOR TRAIL IN SHARIAT" (Bad Protest English-to-Regular English translation: "Hand Over Rushdie to Pakistan for Trial in Sharia!")

That's The Religion of Peace for ya, folks. Death is an appropriate punishment for writing a dreadfully boring book.

If this keeps up, I think we might have yet another DAY OF RAGE on our hands, and if it's going to rise to Day of Rage levels, it's bound to happen this Friday. Keep your eyes peeled for some Grade-A entertainment, folks!

Update: Eagle-eyed reader AMDScooter spotted a familiar face in the crowds! How'd I miss that??

"Sir" Salman Rushdie: A Thoughtful Reaction

Here is a round-up of the calm, collected, and very in-depth, well-considered Pakistani Islamist response to the knighting of Salman Rushdie (h/t lgf):

Of course, some will say that this will inflame the anger of the Middle East... but then again, when is their anger not ablaze?

Earth Day Funnies

It seems that the wily Indonesians have gotten into the whole spirit of Earth Day. I'm kinda curious, though, as to when the Confederate States of America was re-established, and why they think that it's an "environmental criminal." (h/t Sweetness & Light)

Happy Friday, y'all

Whadda ya know? It's Friday yet again, and it's looking an awful lot like last Friday. Considering how often this happens (and happens, and happens, and happens), I fail to see why anyone considers this to be "newsworthy" enough to continue sending photographers to cover them.

Better than the average thug?

As usual, the rest of Friday's festivities follow below the fold! Continue reading »

Selective Outrage Syndrome, Day OF RAGE!

A clear case of projection, if you ask me...
Rumour has it that there's a massive DAY OF ANGER!! (now where have I seen this before?) planned to protest the Israeli "destruction" of the al-Aqsa mosque. I haven't seen any photos of it yet, but considering that today is Friday, the Muslim holy day—and traditionally the day of the largest organized worldwide protests—I expect we'll be seeing quite a bit of action on the wires shortly.

Plenty of "anger" and "rage" are evident in the photographs, following the break. I ask you: Aside from "anger" and "rage," what else is there in the Muslim world?

Update: From what I can tell, there are two separate efforts underway. The primary is a large, "peaceful" protest, with plenty of flag-waving, propaganda posters, and other traditional elements of jihadi misinformation. The secondary seems to be an effort to goad the Israeli police into a firefight using "stone throwers" and other violent elements.

We shall see which side gets the greater coverage...

Previously on Snapped Shot: Selective Outrage Syndrome, Selective Outrage Syndrome, Day 2

Update: Here's the background on why all of this inflamed "protest" is genuinely fake. Thanks to LGF commenter BabbaZee for the link!

Update: In a rather interesting twist, it seems that this is a Palestinian day of RAGE, considering we haven't seen any action on the wires from Iran, Iraq, Pakistan, or any of the other usual hot spots. I'll keep an eye on the wires, of course, but I find it interesting that nothing's come across yet. Continue reading »
