Always Watching the All-Seeing Eye

Brief Observations

Observation #1: There is no difference between "secret vice squads" and "mafia enforcers." And, by whatever name you choose to call them, they run the "Palestinian" territories.

Mohammed al-Shaer, 19, sits at his music shop in the town of Khan Younis southern Gaza Strip, Tuesday March 6, 2007. A note stuck to the door of his tiny music shop warned Mohammed al-Shaer several months ago that selling tapes and CDs of popular Arabic music was 'haram,' or forbidden by Islam. Al-Shaer paid no heed until a bomb went off outside his business this week — apparently the work of what Palestinian security officials now suspect may be a secret 'vice squad' of Muslim militants. Observation #2: All of the "good intentions" in the world and $1.89 still only purchases a Venti Starbucks coffee. And "Good Intentions" plus $12 billion buys a lot of guns. It certainly won't do anything to appease those who hate you. With that in mind, notice the posters of "martyrs" which have been tacked on top of this "Feel Good" art project, along with the "pockmarks" in the poster, which I suspect are also not accidental. (It actually looks like someone had plastered other posters on top, and they had been removed.)

A Palestinian woman walks past a large portrait in the center of the West Bank city of Ramallah, Tuesday, March 6, 2007. The portrait is part of an exhibit called 'Face to Face' which includes portraits of Israelis and Palestinians. (AP Photo/Nasser Shiyoukhi)

Paved with good intentions, indeed.
