Christopher Anderson: Photographer of the Year

Christopher Anderson, who you may recall has interacted with us here at Snapped Shot, has been identified as the Magazine Photographer of the Year by Pictures of the Year, International (via Lightstalkers), for one of his dramatic photographs from the Middle East. In addition to the prize-winning photograph, there were other pictures from the Gaza Strip, Beirut, and South America. The slideshow can be viewed over here.

My heartiest congratulations, Mr. Anderson. We may not always agree on the interpretation of the events you depict, but there is no denying that the photographs you have been awarded for are very powerful.

*Websters defines slum as: "a densely populated usually urban area marked by crowding, dirty run-down housing, poverty, and social disorganization"

All of these apply to the area of El Alto in Bolivia. Oxfam America actually refers to El Alto as a "shantytown".

As always, thanks for your ever-helpful, ill researched and ill informed mudslinging. You are doing the world a great service and should be proud.

In all seriousness, mucho congratulations on your acheivement, sir. You do deserve it, as your photos are very beautifully composed, if not a bit dark for my taste. But hey, beauty is beauty, no?
