Playing Favourites

One of these... is not like the other.

And here I thought the press was above playing favourites! For more irreverent commentary which adds nothing to the debate, be sure to continue below the fold.
Here's another example of "selective" respect. Two speeches, two parliaments, two dramatically different photographic representations. Can you guess who the favourite is?

Now, don't get me wrong--I'm not exactly a "fan" of Ehud Olmert, as I consider him to be something of an Israeli Bill Clinton (Defn: One whose "core beliefs" are defined by the direction of the wind.) Of course, even given that, I still respect him in his position as the elected Prime Minister of Israel, as I respect Romano Prodi for his position in the Italian parliament.

Then again, that's what sets people on my side of the blogosphere apart from the nutso-sphere, so there ya go.

All that being said, I firmly believe that Ehud Olmert could lead Israel to pass a law stating that all of the ill puppies in the world could be sent and cared for, for free, in Israel, and the press would still paint the story in a negative light. I can see the headlines now:

"Israeli Puppy Kidnap Plot"

"Pound Puppy Problem: Zionists' fault?"

"Zionists Don't Do Nearly Enough for the Plight of Kitties"

BushEhud's Fault?
