Snapped Shot

Always Watching the All-Seeing Eye

The almost unbeatable power of boredom

Bravely entering the old world!
For immediate disclosure, let me get this out of the way quickly and say that the answer is, "Because I could."

With that out of the way, I'm happy to announce that Snapped Shot is now accessible on WAP devices. Almost. It works pretty well in Deck-It, a WAP/WML test suite, but for some reason my Motorola V550 isn't liking things. I bet might possibly be why the standard has been all but abandoned at this point! If you are one of the poor unfortunates (much like me) who have an older cell phone that can't display "regular" websites, point it over here, and you should be automagically redirected to the cell-phone-friendly version, so you can keep up with the headlines here when you're nowhere near a computer!

(Of course, the real reason I did this is so I can keep up with the website while I'm not at a computer, but hey, if I can do it, you're welcome to, too! Eventually, the website should be completely usable in read-only form, since it may be a bit too tricky to support comment posting from cell phones.)

The weblog software hasn't been very forgiving, and as a result, only headlines/links really work at present, but when I finish figuring out what's wrong with my patches, the full article text and comments should be readable on the phone as well. Sorry, though—to conserve bandwidth, there won't be any graphics.

It feels good to enter the brave new world of 2000. With as much effort as it took to get here, no wonder there aren't any other blogs here! (And I did try just about all of them—mine is the only WAP-compliant website I could find in my favorites! Woot!)

Here is what a handful of random people think about this article. But first, the fine print:
The opinions expressed here, even where approved for display, do not necessarily reflect the opinions of this website, the management, or any other entity or organization, with the exception of the Vast Zionist Conspiracy. Those opinions we represent in style, yo. Please keep the language in these comments clean, as this is intended to be a family-friendly, work-friendly website. Comments not compliant with this policy will be edited for content where necessary. Abusive or otherwise illegal comments will be reported to the proper authorities, up to and including the aforementioned Vast Zionist Conspiracy. The Management cannot and will not be held responsible for commenters making a spectacle of themselves, even if The Management are the said commenters in question. In other words, don't take yourself so seriously, folks. We're all here to discuss the news, and more importantly, to have fun. Now go get yourself into some OCD treatment program—you obviously need it if you actually read all of this mess.
