Condi Rice has the AP Seeing Red?

This is about the color I turn when I think of lawyers.


I'm not exactly sure how to explain this photo from the Associated Press. Notice how absolutely red Condoleezza looks? The effect isn't as noticeable at Daylife, but judging by this alternate version, which is still on the wire, I'd suspect that something has been going on. And here's another photo from the same event, released by the U.S. State Department. She doesn't look, on the surface, to be suffering from any blood pressure problems.

So why the alteration?

Was the AP trying to improve the photograph for republication? Was the red tint a by-product of something over on the Yahoo! News side of the system?

Or was somebody trying to color your opinion of the news by making her look all the more sinister?

If it hadn't happened before, I'd say the whole idea was crazy.
