Mark Finkelstein at NewsBusters has the answer:

Quite a feat: CNN has pulled off the MSM equivalent of describing a spiral staircase without using one's hands. It has managed to produce a segment on "honor killings" and related violence in the UK . . . without using the word "Muslim" or "Islam."

*I'm surprised they didn't edit out the mention of the Koran at 2:12... But to have that common denominator put in their face and ignore it takes the cake.

OTOH, if you want to subvert this Muslim behavior, CNN averts the rage by not mentioning the real source. If Muslims are outraged, it'll be because they make the association themselves! That might be a slick move on CNN's part.

*That's true, WD.

But I think that would do more of a disservice in exposing this horrible practice to the public than worrying about offending the cult that practices it.

If "honor" killings were common within the Christian culture, I doubt CNN would have had a problem making that connection.

In the news now (you can google it - I saw it at FoxNews) - a young child was starved to death as punishment for refusing to say "amen". Meanwhile, the mainstream media never mentioned the blind 7 year old who was hung by his feet and beaten to death because he couldn't remember the quran.

There is a double standard when it comes to islam and all others. No doubt in my mind, because muslimes have effectively established their willingness to commit violence at the slightest insult, while all other refrain from such barbaric behavior.

I can dig up the link for either of the above terrible stories if you need a source.

*I would prefer that CNN take this head on. Their job isn't politics, but reporting. Hearing Mary say her family threaten, "... you are not obeying even Koran and Allah, we are going to kill you and you deserve killing" makes it clear to the CNN reporter the source of the problem is Islam.

It might be an astute political move for a CNN editor in the UK to avoid mentioning Islam. A CNN editor who is trying to get the message out about the evils of Islam is likely weary of being labeled "Islamophobic" by a vocal Muslim minority.

You know the drill, somebody makes a film, writes an article, releases a book, publishes a cartoon, and what folks remember is a Rage Boy picture. The real news message is lost. I bet more than one editor is struggling with that -- they're not all hopelessly lost liberals.

So by releasing an article that doesn't mention Islam but allows Mary's quote still sends the message that such behavior is present and is unacceptable, while keeping the Islamorage Panic Button from sounding.

And if Islamorage Panic starts against CNN, they can point to Rage Boy for making an association with Islam that CNN did not themselves make.

I do believe CNN omitted Islam deliberately. But not because of Dhimmitude. Dhimmitude would have killed the report completely.

So consider this question, how many viewers in the UK won't get the message the problem being exposed is Islam? Brits will get the message, and keep their wry smile behind their stiff upper lips.

*Lol, I guess that would be a good way to view it. You may be onto something there.
