Captured on Film: Hope and Change

He's got to be a regular Obama adviser:

"Ow wow wow wow."

A memorable quote, indeed. [Ed.:—Late-hour update: "One that's sure to please every crowd." Why do good lines always come to me at the most inopportune times?]

Windows MojavZZzzzzzzzz...

This is Microsoft's super scary new marketing campaign for Windows Vista?

Heh.

Let me see if I got the new Vista campaign right: Bring in a bunch of "end-users" (a conveniently diverse bunch, to boot) and "show" them a fancy new beta version of Windows Mojave. And then, after they're absolutely not acting about how surprised they are (since they weren't just dragged in from the local acting clubs), you shockingly! reveal to them that it's really Windows Vista?

Yeah....

Of course, I was amused at the features Microsoft chose to highlight in the full ads in the lower right-hand corner of the page. For instance, did you know that Windows Vista (uh, and every single copy of MSN Messenger for Windows XP, as far as I can tell—but I digress) gives us cutting edge technology that lets us play 1992-era games with our friends as we chat in our 1999-era instant messenger?

In stunning text mode?

That couldn't possibly compare to the other company's chat features, now could it?

Video chat is for poseurs.

Of course, considering what your average Windows enthusiast looks like, maybe Microsoft is giving us a blessing in disguise here.

Today's Obama Moment

"I love the smell of Socialism in the morning!"
"Globalization and technology and automation all weaken the position of workers," he said, and a strong government hand is needed to assure that wealth is distributed more equitably.

From WSJ here and here.

He also blames a "anti-union climate" as one of the other things that "weakens the position of workers".

We've seen an additional three billion people added to capitalism, partly because of the success of the U.S. creating a working liberal economic order, but also because of technology and the rapidity with which technology is moving. You look at a place like Flint, Michigan, where the old industrial structures have been completely uprooted and we've got to help the residents here transition to this new economy...

Rocking it the CNN Way

Every now and then, I get e-mails that tip me to some pretty nifty stuff. This is one of those instances, from the kind folks over at a little company called PicLens:

Hi Brian,

My name is Luna and I'm a Stanford intern at Cooliris, the creator of PicLens. PicLens features a full-screen interactive 3D Wall that revolutionizes the way photos are viewed on the web. With PicLens, viewers can seamlessly browse thousands of photos in seconds and focus in and out of individual photos like at an actual gallery wall. Words can't quite do PicLens justice so here is a link to a visual demo: http://piclens.com/demo.

Since Snapped Shot is often on top of the latest developments in the photography community, we thought you'd be interested in our recent partnership with a premier leader in the field—Getty Images. The Getty Images website is now PicLens enabled, allowing for a much richer way to browse photos quickly and easily. Getty is just the latest addition to the growing wave of what we consider a herald of the future Internet experience with other distinguished companies like Google, Flickr, and Facebook.

I hope you and your readers have a chance to check it out and enjoy the newly enabled Getty Images site.

All the Best,
Luna and The Cooliris Team

I dunno about being on top of the latest developments, as I tend to stick to more mundane topics these days, but I am pretty impressed by the technology.

It's not something that's revolutionary enough to change the way I work as of yet, but it does let me do some really nifty CNN-style flying photo screens. Here's a screenshot from my first traditional test of any new photo service:

Zoomy.

The GettyImages integration will be something that I look forward to exploring. It's not working at present, despite the written notice, but at the very least, it'll take some of the boredom out of scrolling through the latest photos on the newswires.

Swooooosh.

If you're into nifty toys like this, be sure to head on over yonder and click the ginormous green "Download" button promptly.

Yeah, We Wouldn't Want These Guys To Suffer...

Torture deaths of Infidels, eh, no big deal. Momentary suffering of Muslim terrorists found guilty of murdering 202 innocent civilians, OH THE HUMANITY!

The Muslim lawyers team which defends Amrozi bin Nuryhasim, Ali Ghufron and Iman Samudra say they will lodge a constitutional court challenge tomorrow arguing that the imminent executions of their clients by firing squad amount to torture.

[...]

Lawyer Mahendra Data said that because their clients may be shot twice before they are dead, there is a potential for them to experience pain.

(Source)

I have a suggestion - place these prisoners near a bomb and detonate it. If the Muslim terrorist pigs die instantly, no suffering or pain! If they linger and die slowly, insha'allah.

Daily Dictator

See? It works. Look at how intriguing Bashar looks today:

I say we make it the Two-and-a-Thug Coreys.

The Corey Effect, Illustrated

The Mrs. and I have gotten into watching The Two Coreys over on A&E, what with us being big fans of their prior work. And by "us," you can pretty much write that up as "me." (I do ask—Does it get any better than this timeless classic? I think not.)

Anyway, the first season of the show, which ran sometime late last year, had that authentic celeb-reality scripted feel to it, and that was more than a little bit annoying. It would seem that the producers of the show noticed, as the second season, which is running right now, has undergone some serious changes.

It's kinda hard to describe, so allow me to illustrate:

ZZZzzzz......

Let's say that this boring old photo—which, incidentally, provides another clue to the mystery from earlier today—represents the first season. It's obviously staged, it ain't much to look at, and other than the added clue, it's not memorable in the least.

The dialogue in this photograph is still far more intriguing than the show's, but I digress.

Allow me to unveil my super top secret and completely masterful Two Coreys transformation: Continue reading »

Gerry Connolly's Fairfax County

A man was arrested in Annandale for assaulting a 1-year-old child yesterday.

That's okay, though. Gerry Connolly and the rest of the Fairfax County Board of Supervisors won't even bother to consider that Mr. Castellon is anything less than a truly multi-cultural denizen of our esteemed County of Blight:

George Washington is the past. Could this be our future?
A 25-year-old Fairfax man is in custody for allegedly sexually assaulting a 1-year-old infant after her christening party at the Annandale Boys and Girls Club.

On the early morning of Sunday, July 27, the victim's family were cleaning the party room, when a stranger to the family, Juan Miguel Sejas Castellon, allegedly picked up the infant and assaulted her.

Castellon was "at the party, but was unknown to the family," said police spokeswoman Shelly Broderick.

The crying child was taken from Castellon's hands by her mother, who later found undisclosed injuries on her body. The child was treated at Inova Fairfax Hospital.

Castellon, of 3894 Bradwater Drive, was later charged with one count of animate object penetration and one count of abducting an infant child with intent to defile.

No word from the Fairfax Times on Mr. Castellon's immigration status. One imagines that he's a member of the genetically pure race known as a "Native" American. (Pronounced: "Illegal Immigrant.")

In the twisted race-baiter's definition of the term, that is.

Welcome to Gerry Connolly's America.

Playing Catch-up is Fun!

I've got a bazillion e-mails both here at work and over at home that need to be read, along with "1000+" new articles waiting for me in Ye Olde Newsreader. Will get back to posting as soon as I can get caught up with what's going on.

Until then, see if you can name that amusement park. First one to do so gets a game of Connect Four with an Uzi (Uzi Not Included).

Anyone get the number on that speeding Ferris wheel?

Daily Dictator

Posting in Brian's absence, I found this gem from Mahmoud's World:

"May I have this dance?"

Which reminded me of this tune:

Dancin' in the dark 'til the tune ends
We're dancin' in the dark and it soon ends
We're waltzin' in the wonder of why we're here
Time hurries by, we're here, and we're gone

Lookin' for the light of a new love
To brighten up the night, I have you love
And we can face the music together
Dancing in the dark

What though love is old
What though song is old
Through them we can be young
Hear this heart of mine
Wailin' all the time
Dear one, tell me that we're one

Lookin' for the light of a new love
To brighten up the night I have you love
And we can face the music together
Dancin' in the dark
Dancin' in the dark
Dancin' in the dark

Let this be a lesson to ya

A while back I presented information that I found over various places regarding the blue-green algae problem that China has been experiencing over the last few years around Beijing region. While no one has really put much interest in the stories before, now that China is trying to show itself as environmentally conscious during the Olympics, only heightens the international awareness of what is really going on over there.

Now, perusing Fox News website, I found another article from (no name) that highlights the results China has attained after closing down nearly the whole of Beijing's regional economy.

The Chinese capital was shrouded in a thick, gray haze of pollution Sunday, just 12 days before the opening ceremony of the Beijing Olympic Games. One expert warned that drastic measures enacted to cut vehicle and factory emissions in the city were no guarantee skies would be clear during competitions. The pollution (image) was among the worst seen in Beijing in the past month...

The Religion of Peace - From A Muslim Perspective...

On terrorism:

Six per cent of British Muslims believe that the 7/7 bombers were acting according to the true principles of Islam, while 7 per cent agree that suicide attacks on civilians in Britain can be justified under certain circumstances, a figure that rises to 16 per cent if the target is the military. (TimesOnline)

On killing civilians in the name of Allah:

Although 53 per cent said that killing in the name of religion was never justified, compared with 94 per cent of non-Muslims, 32 per cent said that it was. (Telegraph.co.uk)

On the sharia:

Forty per cent of the British Muslims surveyed said they backed introducing sharia in parts of Britain... (Telegraph.co.uk)

On apostacy:

Nearly a third of [Muslim] 16 to 24-year-olds believed that those converting to another religion should be executed... (Guardian.co.uk)

Unexplained Explosions In Gaza Unexplainably Not Blamed On The Jews

From Yahoo! News:

It was the third unexplained blast of the day in this coastal territory after a relatively calm period since Israel and the Islamic militants of Hamas agreed on a cease-fire last month. A total of five people died from the explosions, and 23 suffered injuries.

No one in Gaza blamed Israel for the violence...

Slackers...

I find it hard to believe Ibrahim Barzak could find absolutely no one in the Gaza Strip to blame the Jooos. This Zionist "reporter" should be fired.

Obama's Western Wall Prayer Revealed!

The AP is reporting Barack Hussein "No Middle Name" Obama's Western Wall prayer has been revealed! The written prayer left in a crack in the wall is transcribed here:

In the name of Allah, the infinitely Compassionate and Merciful.
Praise be to Allah, Lord of all the worlds.
The Compassionate, the Merciful.
Ruler on the Day of Reckoning.
You alone do we worship, and You alone do we ask for help.
Guide us on the straight path,
the path of those who have received your grace;
not the path of those who have brought down wrath, nor of those who wander astray.
Amen.

(Okay, that wasn't really his prayer, but we have to continue to fuel that "Obama is a Muslim" rumour!)
