A Broken Watch: It's Mecca Time Again!

Michelle Malkin is reporting that a deep-thinking summit in Qatar is suggesting demanding that the world adopt "Mecca Time":

Muslim scientists and clerics have called for the adoption of Mecca time to replace GMT, arguing that the Saudi city is the true centre of the Earth.

Mecca is the direction all Muslims face when they perform their daily prayers.

The call was issued at a conference held in the Gulf state of Qatar under the title: Mecca, the Centre of the Earth, Theory and Practice.

One geologist argued that unlike other longitudes, Mecca’s was in perfect alignment to magnetic north.

Of course, this isn't the first time we've heard that idea before. Who could've possibly imagined that the idea hasn't been adopted by the United Nations after all this time?

It is amusing to see that the arguments used to support dictate the "science" behind the idea have changed considerably in the past year or so. It's also amusing to note that the BBC actually considers this news.

Then again, considering that the entire BBC newsroom probably just got finished switching over to Mecca Time, perhaps it's not that amusing after all.
