Posting Pictures for Fun and Profit, Redux
Again, without the "profit" part. I won't have any talk of that silliness around here!
Lee from A Secondhand Conjecture suggested that I try PicApp, a service that promises to allow we measly bloggers to post copyrighted pictures on our blog at no cost.
Here's a handy example from their gallery, from a story I missed from last week:
Of course, this does come at some cost:—For starters, instead of being able to view the photographs using your high-speed web browser, PicApp forces us to use an Adobe Flash control to run an object that is annoyingly animated.
The other cost? Yeah, you guessed it by now—PicApp reserves the right to advertise on any blog that uses their service.
But hey, I figure it's worth a try, assuming I can find content in their archive in a timely manner. It's not encouraging to see that the latest content available today is from last week, but hey, it's better than nothing.
Be sure to let me know how/if it works for you, and we'll see where things go from here! And, if you're a blogger who is looking to illustrate your articles without paying a hefty fee to the wire services, registration is "free" as in free.
Thanks for the tip, Lee! You're definitely on your way to becoming Internet Superhero #2 in my book!
