The third holiest place in all of Islam was looking pretty neglected in 1901, at least according to photographs taken by Dwight L. Elmendorf. It's even more obvious when compared to how neat the first holiest place in all of Judaism looked.

If nothing else, these two pictures help illustrate that there is one religion in the world that holds a special connection to Jerusalem—One that's perhaps a touch more peaceful than the religion of peace?

The Elder has the skinny, complete with the pics in question. Verily, I dare not post pictures of unknown origin or copyright over here, as I am not as all-powerful as The Elder Is.
